Cub Scout Pack 225
The Pack at OLA, which serves OLA boys as well as Cub Scouts from throughout the community, enjoys a rich tradition of activity and service. The Cub Scouting adventure can begin as early as first grade, where boys become Tiger Cubs and sport distinctive orange T-shirts. Second-graders are Wolf Cubs, third-graders Bear Cubs, and fourth- and fifth-graders are Webelos (short for WE’ll BE LOyal Scouts). Pack Scouts have stayed overnight aboard the U.S.S. Pampanito, a World War II submarine docked in San Francisco, and the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hornet anchored across the Bay in Alameda. Scouts have taken rides in police squad cars, climbed into fire engines, and even in the belly of a jumbo jet! Oh, and we can’t forget the races. Every year, Cub Scouts build their own cars and race them against each other at the Pack’s big Pinewood Derby event. Pack 225 welcomes every boy between first and fifth grade to join. The Pack meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:00. The individual Dens meet at a time a day convenient to the boys and their parents. For more information, contact Suzy Namba at 359-7695.
Boy Scout Troop 328
In service to the community for more than 45 years, Boy Scout Troop 328 comprises boys from OLA School and the surrounding community. The Troop follows the three aims of Scouting — character development, citizenship training and personal fitness — with a variety of monthly programs. In addition to outings that have taken Scouts a mile below the surface of the earth, down Class II rapids, high up the face of a granite cliff and deep into the wilderness, Scouts of Troop 328 serve the community through twice-yearly food drives, feeding homeless Veterans, caroling for hospital patients and helping spruce up OLA’s church grounds. The Troop welcomes every boy between 11 and 18 to check us out — the Troop meets almost every Monday evening at 7 p.m. at OLA. For more information, contact Suzy Namba at 359-7695.
