Every baptized Christian has received a call to live out his or her discipleship according to the will of God. Some are called to join their lives with another in married life, and to be the head of their domestic church in the home.
Some men are called to the Permanent Diaconate. The Diaconate is an order of the Clergy in which married men receive an ordination for service to the Church – the ministry of charity, word and liturgy. For more information on the Permanent Diaconate, visit the website of the Diocese of Sacramento, Office of Clergy Formation.
Some are called to remain single and serve the Lord.
Some who are called to remain single are called to the priesthood or religious life (men or women). For more information on religious vocations, visit the website of the Diocese of Sacramento, Office of Vocations.
